The Koperattiva Produtturi taz-Zebbug Limited has taken more concrete steps to prepare for the arrival of the root stocks to be transferred to the Government owned Nursery. The Cooperative and CREA expert visited the Nursery on Thursday 22nd August, 2024 to discuss the plans and what needs to be done for this work to be successful. The Directorate of Agriculture has won the Call for Quotations to manage the root stocks and make the grafting of the root stocks with Bidni scion. The Cooperative has managed to increase the root stock from 1000 to 1150, and these will be distributed to the Cooperative’s members.
It was agreed to bring in the root stocks in December 2024 and the grafting will take place during March-April 2025.
The Cooperative’s team then visited the San Blas area to view very old olive trees that are on the outskirts of the San Blas Centre.
